Creative Partnerships

My interest in education really started from the nationwide project launched by Self Portrait UK/ Channel 4 and Media 19. My work was selected to tour with this exhibition four years ago, and still continues to do so. From this my work has been requested by schools, colleges and Universities as a point of discussion surrounding Cultural Identity. This project has really reached out to young people in a way which has made me realise how much young people want to discuss how they feel about real issues, as much as us adults, and how much they like to receive critical feedback.
My work is continuously challenging new ways of observing my surroundings, myself in these surroundings and other people. The subject of a lot of my work celebrates our diverse heritage and the simplicity of my images engages people of all ages. I also explore various creative techniques to express these observations, as a core part of my Art.
I am a painter and I challenge how I create an image and how I observe what I am creating; I encourage the exploration of painting mediums and diverse ways of applying them. During teaching I encourage children to make ‘mistakes’ to discover something new, and to positively thrive on the new discovery. This risk taking and failing confidently is something which has positively made me a confident and an inspired person.

I am also a practicing Future Creative Practitioner see link http://www.future-creative.org/
